Welcome to The Daily HIT

May 13, 2008 by Daniel Redwood, DC

Because one of our key goals at Health Insights Today is to bring you health news on a timely basis, adding a daily blog seems a logical next step. Many posts on The Daily HIT will involve links to breaking news stories, often with excerpts and original commentary from a natural health perspective.

Natural health emphasizes the value of primary prevention (stopping illness before it starts) and treatments that are minimally invasive and as free as possible from harmful side effects. The goal is to strengthen the body (and hopefully the mind and spirit as well) and limit the need for pharmaceuticals and surgery to cases where they are truly necessary.

We intend to explore the details and the ramifications of this natural healing perspective in the coming months and years at Health Insights Today and The Daily HIT.

As for the structure of this blog, despite our desire to encourage your participation we are choosing not to include a comments section. While a freewheeling comments section has its upside (greater interactivity, possible community building), anyone who has seen comments threads on blogs degenerate into name-calling and flame wars understands that there can be a considerable downside as well. There’s an old saying that the same fire that cooks your food can burn down your house.

So rather than risk setting the house on fire, we are opting for a middle path. When you feel you have something of value (additional facts, a different perspective) to add to a particular post on this blog, please send an email to editor@HealthInsightsToday.com. In certain cases, we’ll post some or all of what you’ve written, much like a letters to the editor page. We’ll use your initials rather than your name unless you specifically ask us to use your name. We reserve the right to edit for style and clarity and promise not to change the meaning of what you’ve written. If a series of comments on a particular topic evolve into an illuminating discussion, we’ll post these as a thread in which the various comments are posted chronologically from top to bottom.

It is our sincere hope that The Daily HIT and Health Insights Today will become trusted sources of health information for you. If we meet your standards, please spread the word.

With the launch of The Daily HIT blog, we are also launching an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed which will allow you to access all of our new posts immediately with one click of a mouse, through an RSS reader. If that last sentence sounds like the language of alien pod people to you, you can learn about RSS here in the safety of your own home. Free RSS readers are available from Yahoo, Google and various other web sources.

And now the news …
